FATCA, CRS & IRIS 1099 Reporting Templates

Download Excel templates for FATCA 1, FATCA 2 (IDES), CRS, and IRS IRIS 1099 — with sample data for each supported jurisdiction and form type.

Use these Excel templates to structure your FATCA, CRS and IRIS 1099 reporting data before XML or CSV generation. Each template follows the schema requirements of the corresponding tax authority — so the data you enter is ready to convert into a valid submission.

Not sure which template to use?
If you report to the IRS directly via IDES, use the FATCA 2 template. If you report to a local authority (HMRC, ACD, CRA, Revenue, ITD), use the jurisdiction-specific FATCA 1 template. If you file Forms 1099 through the new IRS IRIS system, use the IRIS 1099 templates — one for 1099-NEC, one for 1099-MISC.

Important: IRIS official CSV templates must be downloaded from the IRIS Taxpayer Portal. The IRS requires that only CSV templates provided by the IRS can be used for actual IRIS filing. Our IRIS 1099 templates are data preparation worksheets — they help you organise and validate your source data before mapping it into the official IRS CSV template. Log into the IRIS Taxpayer Portal, click Upload CSV with Form Data, select your form type, and download the official template under FAQ #8.

What's in each template

  • Column structure aligned with the schema fields (Account Holder, Account Details, Branch Details, Account Summary for FATCA/CRS; Payer, Recipient, Box amounts for IRIS 1099)
  • Test data rows — realistic sample records you can replace with your own
  • Dropdown validations for coded fields (AcctCatg, AcctType, HolderType, ConstitutionType for FATCA/CRS; TIN Type, Name Type for IRIS 1099)
  • Reference tabs explaining code mappings for the jurisdiction or form type
  • Notes tab with schema-specific validation rules (e.g., TIN format, name split rules, phone requirements for IRIS 1099)

How to use them

  1. Download the template for your reporting jurisdiction or form type.
  2. Replace the sample data with your own information.
  3. For FATCA/CRS: confirm your GIIN and ITDREIN (for India) are correctly formatted. Use our GIIN Lookup if unsure.
  4. For IRIS 1099: confirm your Payer TIN and Recipient TIN types and formats. Ensure names are split into Line 1 and Line 2 as required by IRIS.
  5. Validate the resulting XML or CSV against the correct schema using our XML Validation Tool before submission.

Frequently asked questions

Are the templates free?

Yes. All templates on this page are free to download. No credit card, no signup fee.

Do the templates include test data?

Yes. Every template ships with sample rows so you can see how each field should be formatted for that jurisdiction or form type.

Can I use these templates for production reporting?

The templates are designed as a starting point. For production reporting, we recommend using our FATCA Reporting Software, which validates data against live IRS and OECD reference sets before XML generation.

Are the templates updated when schemas change?

Yes. We update each template when the corresponding jurisdiction publishes a new schema version. Check back periodically, or subscribe to our compliance newsletter for update announcements.

Which template should I use for CRS 2.0?

Use the CRS template. It follows the latest OECD CRS schema (v3.0) and supports CRS 2.0 fields including crypto-asset reporting.

Are the IRIS 1099 templates the same as the official IRS CSV templates?

No. The official IRS CSV templates must be downloaded directly from the IRIS Taxpayer Portal — the IRS requires that only its own templates are used for actual filing. Our IRIS 1099 templates are data preparation worksheets. They help you organise, validate and format your source data before you map it into the official IRS CSV template. Think of them as a pre-flight checklist for your data.

What is the difference between the 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC IRIS templates?

IRIS requires separate upload files for different form types — 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC cannot be submitted in the same file. Our templates follow that same separation. The 1099-NEC template includes Box 1 (Nonemployee Compensation), Box 4 (Federal Income Tax Withheld), Box 7 (Direct Sales Indicator) and the Second TIN Notice field. The 1099-MISC template includes Boxes 1–3 (Rents, Royalties, Other Income), Box 4, Boxes 8–10 (Substitute Payments, Crop Insurance, Attorney Proceeds) and Boxes 16–18 (state tax fields).

What are the IRIS filing deadlines for 2026?

Form 1099-NEC is due to the IRS and to recipients by February 1, 2027. Form 1099-MISC is due to recipients by February 1, 2027, and to the IRS by March 31, 2027 when filed electronically. See our IRIS 1099 Filing Guide for the full deadline table and TCC registration steps.
